Lisa Haynes, SVP, CFO, Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, Mortgage Bankers Association, discussed diversity and inclusion with MReport, and noted she has seen significant improvements.
“I think the industry has taken some marked steps from where we were to where we are today. Even I can say from when I first entered the industry … I see the difference between what our conferences look like initially and as they start to evolve,” Haynes said.
She added the industry is trying to be deliberate with their efforts on inclusion in respect to recruiting efforts. Haynes also said the MBA is partnering with groups looking to bring diversity into the industry.
Haynes said the MBA is “building a pipeline” for the industry but noted there is no “magic wand.”
“We’ve got to do the work,” she said.
