Five Star Prepares For Take-Off at RISE ABOVE Event

The 2018 Five Star Conference will open its gates to the mortgage industry on Sunday, September 16, 2018. One of the most anticipated events of the year, the conference will continue through Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas.

Celebrating its 15th year, the Five Star Conference and Expo is one of the largest mortgage servicing and real estate conferences in the U.S. supported by six academic labs hosted by leading subject matter experts. Apart from sessions on mortgage servicing, compliance, foreclosures, property management, and investment, this year’s conference will also host the inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Lab, featuring an open conversation with Mrs. Laura Bush, First Lady of the United States (2001-2009).

“The Five Star Conference has always been a platform for leaders in the mortgage industry to discuss issues that impact homeowners,” said Ed Delgado, President, and CEO, of the Five Star Institute. “I look forward to a successful dialogue on the most pressing issues facing the industry.”

The conference begins with the Single Family Rental Round Table, a hyper-focused one-day event at the Five Star Conference that allows attendees to engage in conversations on important single-family rental topics. Critical decisions on the direction of the housing market and rental strategies will be revealed at this year’s event.

“Five Star consistently produces a “not to be missed” conference packed with timely, relevant sessions focused on topics that matter, and delivered by respected industry experts,” said Ray Barbone, EVP, Bank Operations, BankUnited. “I am looking forward to taking in the 2018 conference and connecting with both  old friends and potential business partners.”

On the evening of Monday, September 17, Five Star will honor U.S. military veterans with the annual Keys for Life event which will include the presentation of five mortgage-free homes to veterans and their families with the support of Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit, whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families.

The event will also recognize the achievements of two industry veterans through the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award announced live during the Keys for Life presentation and concert featuring Grammy Award-winning artist, LeAnn Rimes.

“Five Star is a great chance to see colleagues across the industry and to catch up, but it is also a time to tackle tough issues like natural disasters and diversity in our industry,” said Dana Dillard, EVP, Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Cooper.  “We are supporters of the Women In Housing gatherings – it’s something that our female leaders look forward to every year.”

This year, the 15th annual Five Star Conference and Expo will host the Women in Housing Leadership Awards Banquet, which will include the presentation of the inaugural Keystone awards honoring women who exemplify characteristics that strengthen and support the business of mortgage. The finalists for these awards were selected by a committee of industry veterans who narrowed the field to five candidates within each category.
