Doug_Long_PicAmeriFirst Home Mortgage [1], a division of AmeriFirst Financial Corp. headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has hired mortgage veteran Doug Long as its Southeast Divisional President. In his new role, Long’s responsibilities include growing AmeriFirst’s penetration of the Florida market, and he will work out of the company’s Winter Park, Florida office.

AmerFirst was founded in 1983 by Mark Jones and David Gahm. The lender is licensed in a dozen states across the Midwest and Southeast and offers a full line of mortgage products including FHA loans, VA mortgage loans, USDA Rural Development loans, Renovation loans, and conventional lending.

“Doug combines the exact qualities we look for in leaders of our company. He is an individual with the utmost integrity who understands how to successfully combine the nuances of production and marketing with exceptional organizational leadership skills to motivate his team,” said Gahm.

Prior to joining AmeriFirst, Long served as EVP for HomeBridge® Financial Services where he oversaw branch operations after HomeBridge acquired certain assets of Prospect Mortgage, LLC. Long was the former President of National Lending at Prospect where he led a sales team of more than 800 originators and 200 branches since 2011. In addition, Long was also the co-founder of Pinnacle Financial. “I see an opportunity to replicate AmeriFirst’s culture in regions under my authority, honor their value proposition for first-time homebuyers, and assist individuals seeking FHA, VA and Conventional financing along with renovation home loans,” said Long.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have someone like Doug serve as a standard-bearer for our organization,” said Jones.
