Wells Fargo to Donate $500K in Homes to Vets, Families

""Wells Fargo"":https://www.wellsfargo.com/ announced recently that it will donate up to $500,000 in bank-owned homes to qualifying veterans and their families.

The lender will hand over these properties to veterans and military families through the ""Homes on the Homefront"" program with ""Operation Homefront"":http://www.operationhomefront.net/, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supplying onetime warriors with housing opportunities.

Some of those qualifications require that recipients serve on active duty, not currently own homes, and sustain themselves financially during the initial period that follows homeownership.

""Operation Homefront is thrilled to welcome Wells Fargo as a partner for our Homes on the Homefront program,"" Jim Knotts, CEO of Operation Homefront, said in a statement. ""Wells Fargo's assistance with the program ensures that more veterans and their families will be able to grow and move forward following their transition from the military.""

Tyler Smith, VP with the mortgage lender's Premiere Asset Services, added that ""[w]e hope more companies and individuals will get involved with supporting Operation Homefront's mission that brings resources to veterans seeking ways to overcome homelessness and to address economic challenges,"" such as those facing the housing market.

According to a release, the ""Wells Fargo Housing Foundation"":https://www.wellsfargo.com/about/wfhf_oview supplied some $23.4 million in 697 discounted and 1,245 donated properties to programs with vested services in home affordability and community revitalization.
