After campaigning for more than a year, Warren claimed victory in the race for U.S. Senate against Republican incumbent ""Scott Brown"":http://www.scottbrown.com/. She received 53.7 percent of the state's votes, according to ""Politico"":http://www.politico.com/.

A professor of law at Harvard for nearly 20 years, Warren rose to national prominence as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel for the Trouble Asset Relief Program (TARP). After the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act, she worked as special assistant to President Obama in the creation of the CFPB, an agency she described as ""a tough cop on the beat"" for the consumer credit industry. Her time as CFPB advisor earned her praise and criticism alike as she pushed for more aggressive regulation.

In a ""blog post"":http://elizabethwarren.com/blog/thank-you following the announcement of her victory, Warren thanked supporters and vowed to work hard to break the partisan gridlock in Washington.

""I won't just be your Senator, I will also be your champion,"" she said.
