Lambert Moves From Making Home Affordable to Another Position in Treasury

Carol Lambert w captionThe U.S. Department of Treasury's Director of Marketing and Outreach in the Homeownership Preservation Office, Carol Lambert, has announced that she will be leaving that position effective Friday, April 10, for another position within the Department of Treasury.

Lambert was instrumental in starting Treasury's Making Home Affordable Program (MHA) in 2009, which the government began in response to the devastating financial crisis of 2008 and to help families avoid foreclosure. She has continued to promote the program for the last six years, during which time MHA has helped more than one and a half million families.

In her role as director of marketing and outreach, Lambert facilitated training to bolster counselors' knowledge of MHA and assist homeowners, to co-host local events which facilitated real-time solutions for homeowners facing foreclosure, putting the homeowners and servicers face-to-face, and increase public awareness of MHA by engaging local and national organizations.

"Over the last six years, we've all put in considerable effort to help move the program forward and help borrowers in need of mortgage help," she said in an interview with MReport.

When asked what she was most proud of having accomplished with MHA, Lambert said, "There are so many things. If I had to pick one thing, I would say we're proud of the way we were able to put resources together to help homeowners and I’m proud I was able to participate in the direct assistance of homeowners in so many ways, including our PSA campaigns, online presence and outreach events.”

Before joining Treasury, Lambert worked for Freddie Mac in corporate and marketing communications, where she led the development of Freddie Mac's consumer-facing and diversity-focused outreach initiatives and financial education tools. Prior to Freddie Mac, Lambert worked in corporate communications for NeighborWorks America.

In an update on MHA's website on Friday, Lambert wrote, "While today is my last day on Making Home Affordable, I will always remember this experience and I will remember the many things you taught me about what it takes to empower you---and the homeowners needing our help---with the kind of information, tools, and resources that ultimately lead to mortgage solutions."

Lambert is scheduled to start in her new role with Treasury as the Director of Marketing and Outreach for Treasury's myRA program, an affordable retirement account, on Monday, April 13.
