FDIC Unveils Technical Assistance Videos for Mortgage Rules

televisionFederal regulators have launched a new educational resource to aid bank employees in meeting regulatory requirements.

In an announcement Wednesday, FDIC [1] introduced the first in what the agency says will be a series of technical assistance videos developed in the wake of this year's mortgage regulations handed down from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau [2] (CFPB).

The first video, available now, covers the ability to repay and qualified mortgage rules and is intended for compliance officers and other staff involved in ensuring compliance, the agency said.

"The release of this video is part of the FDIC's ongoing efforts to inform supervised institutions about important regulatory issues," said Mark Pearce, director of the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection at FDIC. "The FDIC is committed to providing technical assistance to help community banks comply with recent regulatory changes."

FDIC is already planning the release of two additional videos in the series in the upcoming months. Those offerings will focus on rules governing mortgage servicing and loan originator compensation.

The videos will be available for viewing on FDIC's website [3] or directly through its YouTube channel [4].
