Homes in Midwestern states have proven to be more affordable, and Mount Vernon, Illinois was the most popular metropolitan area for homes purchased by millennial buyers. Where Student Loan Repayment is Easiest for Young Homebuyers

Student loans are a heavy burden on young adults, and some may find it hard to buy a home with that weight hanging over them. A report from Lendedu attempted to ease this burden with a ranking of U.S. cities where student loan repayment is easiest. The New York Fed noted that student loan debt has begun to level off, though still remain at a high level. These new homeowners may find it easiest to buy a home in Mount Sterling, Illinois, which sits at the top of Lendedu’s list

A new survey revealed that millennials may not want the homebuying process to be as digital as most expect. In fact, two-thirds actually would prefer using a local real estate agent or lender over an online-based one. The survey also revealed that 56 percent of millennials plan to purchase a home in the next two years.

Millenials don’t stay places very long, a survey from moving company Mayflower found. According to the survey, two out of five millennials, those aged 18 to 35, move to new cities without the intention to stay. These movers are what Mayflower calls “vacation movers,” or movers that do not intend to settle permanently.

Top 5 States for Millennials

Wallethub analyzed data from all 50 states and the District of Columbia to determine which states could be considered the best for millennials to live in. North Dakota was the top-ranking state on Wallethub’s overall list, but No. 2 in terms of housing affordability. That rank went to Iowa. At the bottom housing cost list for millennials was Hawaii, with its historically high cost of living.
