Real estate appraisers are quietly disappearing in the mortgage industry as less young careerists are opting to enter this field, which could in turn, pose serious risks for both lenders and consumers such as added costs and lengthy real estate delivery times.

Members of the National Appraisal Congress, a Five Star Institute Membership Group that advocates and develops sustainable solutions for the residential valuations industry, recently met with members of Congress and appraisal regulators to deliver a comprehensive solution for training the next generation of appraisers while removing existing inefficiencies from the process.

National Appraisal Congress (NAC) has announced the formation of the Society of Young Appraisal Professionals, an NAC subcommittee focused on addressing the declining workforce in the residential valuations space. The new subcommittee's focus will be on actively recruiting, educating, and promoting apprentice appraisers and on brainstorming ideas and developing solutions to help appraisers who have been in the valuation space for five years or less.

In its second year, the National Appraisal Congress—a Five Star Institute membership group formed to advocate on behalf of appraisal professionals and the valuations industry—has signed property software and technology provider Aspen Grove Solutions as a returning National Sponsor.

The executive board of directors for the National Appraisal Congress (NAC) came together this week in Washington, D.C., to discuss pressing issues facing the residential valuation and appraisal industry.
