A new study of all 50 states and D.C. revealed remote workers are flocking to Colorado, due in part to a high ratio of remote homebuying tools such as 3D-tours, virtual walkthroughs, and remote online notarization.

“When remote work is coupled with the reported rise in the importance of affordability, it's not surprising that respondents expressed a greater willingness to live farther from their current location,” noted a Fannie Mae report. “Of course, renters indicated the greatest affordability concerns, as well as a willingness to consider areas farther away from their current location.”

“Tons of homeowners scored an incredible deal during the pandemic: a 3% mortgage rate for the remainder of their 30-year loan … this means buyers who are in the market now are duking it out for a very small pool of homes, preventing home values from plunging,” said Redfin Economics Research Lead Chen Zhao.

Apartment List surveyed nearly 6,000 adults in December 2022 and overall found that those with a remote job were far more likely to migrate and move into a new home than those with a traditional job.
