On Wednesday morning, CFPB Director Richard Cordray will go before the House Financial Services Committee. As per Dodd-Frank requirements, the hearing will allow Cordray to present the Bureau’s most recent semiannual activity reports. Cordray’s prepared remarks show he will discuss credit reporting, debt collection, and financial incentives, among other things.

In a rare show of bipartisanship, Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) and David Vitter (R-Louisiana) joined four other senators and nine House members in a letter that warned against a weak proposed rule that signers said would fail to place "meaningful restrictions" on its ability to bail out financial institutions.

Less than two months after the San Antonio mayor's nomination for the post, the Senate voted Wednesday to confirm Julian Castro as HUD secretary as current cabinet member Shaun Donovan is poised to take over the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The body voted 71-26 to confirm Castro, a Democrat whose star has been on the rise since he delivered the opening keynote at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
