Atlas Van Lines, a national residential moving company, has released their year-end annual report using internal data to determine larger migrations patterns.

“Despite the risk of volatility in the housing market, homeownership remains an important driver of wealth accumulation and the largest source of total wealth among most households,” said Ksenia Potapov, an Economist at First American Financial.

Redfin’s new forecast examines whether next year's market will favor buyers, whether renting will lose any of its appeal, and how location will factor in due to issues such as in-office policies, climate risk, and affordability.

“Despite the resurgence in tappable equity among U.S. mortgage holders, elevated interest rates are making homeowners reluctant to extract that wealth,” said Andy Walden ICE’s VP of Enterprise Research.

"Now that we're seeing the beginning of an affordability turnaround, home buyers are still looking for markets where they can capitalize on lower prices," says Realtor.com Chief Economist Danielle Hale.

In addition to high demand for single-family homes, apartments and rental units within driving distance of city centers are selling at a premium.

1.54 million residential mortgages were issued in the third quarter. A new report lays out the numbers, including how far the market has dropped year-over-year.

“Today’s data signal that home sales activity is likely to remain steady, at a low level, over the next few months as limited options and significant affordability challenges weigh on buyers,” said Realtor.com Senior Economic Research Analyst Hannah Jones.
