Alliant National Title Insurance Company, a title insurance underwriter that partners with Independent Agents to improve their competitive position in the marketplace, recently announced in a press release the hiring of Brenda J. Cannon, Esq. to the position of Florida Underwriting Counsel and VP.

In her new position, Cannon will help title agents with a responsive and practical approach to underwriting and will also work with Alliant National’s Florida team to prepare and present accredited seminars and webinars, provide direct training and education, draft and distribute legal bulletins, articles, and underwriting guidelines, the company said.

“It’s an honor to be the new Florida Underwriting Counsel and Vice President for Alliant National Title Insurance Company,” says Brenda. “I look forward to working with such a respectable, knowledgeable and professional team of people in the industry that I am most passionate about.”

Prior to her new position, Alliant noted that Cannon worked as in-house underwriting counsel with two national title insurance underwriters, where she was responsible for underwriting a wide variety of residential and commercial transactions, authoring company articles and educational material, and presenting seminars throughout the state of Florida.

She began her career as an in-house claims attorney about 25 years ago, working for a major underwriter, after spending several years practicing real estate and corporate law, the company says. Cannon graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida and went on to earn her J.D. with honors from the University of Florida College of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review and received Book Awards in Torts I and Real Property II. She is also a member of the Florida Bar and the Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, the Florida Land Title Association, and Commercial Real Estate Women.
