Animal Owners Not Willing to Compromise Their Families

In a recent report from the Nation Association of Realtors detailing Americans, take their pets’ needs and accommodations into considerations when searching for housing locations. The report is entailed “When Home Buying, Selling and Renovating, it’s an Animal House, Say Realtors”

In fact, per the 2017, Animal House: Remodeling Impact survey reported, 81 percent of its participates claim to be animal related concerns play a major role in housing purchases.

NAR President William E. Brown, a Realtor from Alamo, California and founder of Investment Properties stated that “In 2016, 61 Percent of U.S. households either have a pet or plan to get one in the future.” This information that Realtors need to be aware of as potential buyers are purchasing their homes with the interest of the whole family. If you ask pet owners, they will agree that their pets are a part of their families.

In addition, 89 percent of the pet owners that were surveyed stated they would not give up of their pets due to living restrictions. “Twelve percent of pet owners, have moved to accommodate their animals, and 19 percent said that they would consider moving to accommodate their animals in the future.” Realtors that participated in the survey suggested that at least one- third of their clients owned pets, and declined to make an offer because the property was not pet friendly.

When pet owners are looking to sell their homes, it is suggested by almost 70 percent of their realtors to replace damaged items before enlisting their homes. The individuals who completed these projects, “23 Percent built a fence around their yard, 12 percent added a dog door and 10 percent installed laminate flooring.  Ninety- four percent of the consumers indicated that they were satisfied with their renovation.”

NAR members were also surveyed about their relationship with pets and 80 percent of the relators asked considered themselves animal lovers.
