MBA President Leaves to Head Up SunTrust Mortgage

David H. Stevens, president and CEO of the ""Mortgage Bankers Association"":http://www.mbaa.org/default.htm (MBA) is leaving his post to assume the role of president of ""SunTrust Mortgage."":https://www.suntrustmortgage.com/ Stevens will leave his current position June 30 and assume his new position at SunTrust July 16.

""David Stevens is a high-caliber leader, professional and individual,"" said Jerome Lienhard, CEO of SunTrust Mortgage. ""His subject matter knowledge and leadership abilities are well known, as is his tireless commitment to our industry.""

In his new role, Stevens will handle day-to-day operations for SunTrust Mortgage, including overseeing sales, production, and fulfillment. He will report to Lienhard.

Stevens has accumulated a total of 25 years' industry experience and served as president and CEO of the MBA since May 2011. He formerly served as assistant secretary for housing and commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and HUD.

Before taking on these public sector roles, Stevens served in various senior level positions in the private sector, such as president and CEO of The Long & Foster companies and EVP and national wholesale manager at Wells Fargo.

Marcia M. Davies, the current chief of staff and VP at the MBA, will fill the role as interim head while the MBA seeks a permanent replacement. That search is already underway, according to a statement from the MBA.

""Dave has been an exceptional leader for MBA,"" said Michael Young, MBA chairman.

While expressing his regrets to see Stevens leave his role at the MBA, Young praised Stevens for improving ""MBA's position as the industry's leading voice in advocacy, policy, education, and research.""

Young said the 100-year-old organization is ""well-positioned for the future.""
