Wells Fargo Celebrates a New Board Member

Increasing the board's size to 16, Pena will serve on the audit and examination committee for Wells, according to a statement released by the lender.

According to a statement, Pena stepped up to the Clinton administration as well as Transportation and Energy Departments. Before these roles, he received election as mayor of the city of Denver, picking up a distinction as first Latino to hold office.

Following his tenure with federal authorities, he served as senior adviser for Vestar Capital Partners, a role he assumed in 2009. He also operated as managing director for Vestar for 10 years leading up to 2009.

He also founded Pena Investment Advisors, an asset management firm for which he served as president and CEO, and helped helm a board of directors as board member. He received his bachelor's and law degrees from the University of Texas.

Pena said that ""Wells Fargo has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to its team members, customers, shareholders, and communities, which has resulted in it being among the most successful financial services companies in the world.
