VRM Awards Grant to U.S. Air Force Veteran

handshakeVRM Mortgage Services (VRM), an outsourcing solutions provider for residential and commercial assets, recently announced that it has awarded a $10,000 grant to U.S. Air Force veteran Darryl Lal through the Asian Real Estate Association of America’s (AREAA) Education Foundation.

Lal, a decorated Fijian-American Veteran, served for six years in the U.S. Air Force earning multiple medals in honor of his service.

“I want to thank everyone, from my heart, for making the American Dream come true for me and my family,” Lal said at the event.

The grant, awarded as part of the foundation’s ‘Welcome Home for Heroes Housing Assistance Grant Program,’ was presented by VRM, AREAA, and Veteran’s Association of Real Estate Professionals leadership during a ceremony at AREAA’s annual convention.

The Welcome Home for Heroes Housing Assistance Grant Program is designed to provide housing support to minority Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The funds can be used to modify an existing home to accommodate service-connected injuries or as downpayment and closing cost assistance.

“It’s really an honor to be able to provide this grant and help our nation’s veterans, like Darryl Lal, earn the home they deserve,” said Cheryl Travis-Johnson, chief operating officer for VRM Mortgage Services. “Further, as the daughter of a disabled Veteran, I couldn’t be more proud to help play a role in such an important program.”

“We are proud of our partnership with VRM Mortgage Services in being able to provide this grant to Mr. Lal. He served his country with honor, and has earned a chance at the American Dream,” said Allen Okamoto, AREAA Education Foundation co-founder. “We are truly humbled to help him move toward that goal, and wish him the very best. We look forward to being able to help many more Veterans in need of housing assistance as we continue to move forward with this program.”

This year, the Welcome Home for Heroes Housing Assistance Grant Program aims to raise $385,000 to support 170 veterans and their families.
