Credit Agency Files Antitrust Suit Against CoreLogic, Experian

Florida-based CreditBureau Services filed a suit Tuesday against Experian, the national consumer credit data repository, and CoreLogic, Inc., the nation's largest credit report reseller, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida for alleged violations of the antitrust laws. The suit claims that Experian and CoreLogic sought to deny smaller credit agencies access to Experian's mortgage credit information for "tri-merged" mortgage credit reports. Banks and investors require tri-merged reports to extend credit for home mortgages.

Home Prices Rose in April, May Continue: CoreLogic

Home prices across the nation rose in April, and a further increase is expected for May's index, according to CoreLogic's April Home Price Index report. The report, released Tuesday, showed that home prices in the United States increased in on a year-over-year basis by 1.1 percent in April. This was the second consecutive year-over-year increase in 2012 and the first time two consecutive increases have occurred since June 2010. On a month-over-month basis, home prices increased by 2.2 percent in April, marking the consecutive month-over-month increase this year.

CoreLogic on Spring Buying Season: This Year Is Different

Home prices declined by 0.6 percent on an annual basis in March, according to CoreLogic's latest Home Price Index, released Tuesday. However, when distressed sales ├â┬ó├óÔÇÜ┬¼├óÔé¼┼ô foreclosure sales and short sales ├â┬ó├óÔÇÜ┬¼├óÔé¼┼ô are taken out of the equation, the nation actually experienced a rise in home sales from March 2011 to March 2012 ├â┬ó├óÔÇÜ┬¼├óÔé¼┼ô an increase of 0.9 percent. Also notable: Overall home prices ├â┬ó├óÔÇÜ┬¼├óÔé¼┼ô including distressed sales ├â┬ó├óÔÇÜ┬¼├óÔé¼┼ô rose on a monthly basis in March for the first time since July 2011. Accounting for all transactions, prices are now 33.7 percent below their April 2006 peak.

Home Prices Climbed 0.7% in February: CoreLogic

Home prices for non-distressed property sales ticked up 0.7 percent in February from January, even while figures for the same fell by 2 percent year-over-year, according to CoreLogic. The analytics firm said that home prices also marked a seventh straight monthly decline by falling 0.8 percent from January this year. Inclusive of distressed sales, the five states that encountered appreciation in their home prices at the fastest clip included Arizona (4.5 percent), Florida (4.7 percent), Michigan (5.8 percent), South Dakota (4.1 percent), and West Virginia (8.6 percent).

CoreLogic: Home Prices Show Sixth Consecutive Decline

National home prices declined 1.0 percent between December 2011 and January 2012, according to the latest home price index from CoreLogic. It represents the sixth consecutive month the company has recorded a month-over-month drop in residential property values. The stretch of depreciation is much longer when comparing year-over-year numbers. Based on data through the end of January, annual declines in home prices have continued for 18 months straight by CoreLogic's assessment.
