The Legal League 100 Advisory Board met Wednesday in Washington, D.C., to plot the path forward for serving the default servicing and financial services legal community in the coming year.

Mortgage industry leaders gathered this week at the annually held National Property Preservation Conference (NPPC) to discuss some of the greatest challenges facing housing today and collaborate on how to tackle them head-on.

The executive board of directors for the National Appraisal Congress (NAC) came together this week in Washington, D.C., to discuss pressing issues facing the residential valuation and appraisal industry.

In a continuation of its philanthropic efforts, The Five Star Institute participated as a tournament sponsor for the Texas Neurofibromatosis (NF) Foundation's Texas NF Golf Classic, which took place Monday, November 3, at the picturesque Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving. The Texas NF Golf Classic is an annual charity golf tournament to raise awareness and funding to fight neurofibromatosis (NF), a neurological disease that affects an average of one in every 3,000 people. It is more prevalent than Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy combined. NF occurs equally in both men and women, in all races and ethnic groups. NF particularly affects children and can cause disfigurement, deafness, blindness, brain tumors, cancer, and even death. There is currently no cure or long-term treatment available for this debilitating disease.

A recurring theme during many of the six labs at the Five Star Conference last week was compliance and how it has changed the mortgage industry in the last few years. Laurie Maggiano, program manager for servicing and secondary markets at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), was on hand to discuss the world of mortgage servicing statutes for the "CFPB's National Servicing Standards—Update Session" section of the conference's Compliance Lab.

Experts gathered in Dallas earlier this week at the annual Five Star Conference and Expo to discuss the most pressing issues facing servicers—and "compliance" was the word of the day.

Pro Teck Valuation Services' own chief appraiser, Jeff Dickstein, has been appointed to serve on the Five Star Institute's National Appraisal Congress (NAC), according to a company announcement.

The key players from the housing and real estate industry will descend on Dallas, Texas, September 14 through 16 for the annual Five Star Conference and Expo. The 2014 Five Star Conference and Expo will feature an important industry event hosted by Brian Montgomery, former Federal Housing Administration (FHA) commissioner and current chairman of the Collingwood Group, a Washington, D.C.-based mortgage lending business advisory firm.
