An independent watchdog said he believes that FHA’s downpayment program is in violation of the National Housing Act regarding prohibited sources for downpayment assistance.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, on Tuesday morning announced the GOP’s much-anticipated and much-talked about proposed alternative to Dodd-Frank, entitled the Financial CHOICE Act.

Hensarling and Shelby said campaigns that criticize the open and competitive NPL sales process are “based on a false notion that doing so is somehow contrary to the goal of ‘neighborhood stabilization.’”
