LPS: Prices Flat in December, Up 5.8% in 2012

Home prices in December were mostly flat from the month before, according to the latest Home Price Index (HPI) released by Lender Processing Services (LPS). LPS' index shows prices climbed 0.1 percent in December, staying at a rounded-off $207,000. November's HPI was also reported at $207,000. While December's index was little changed from the prior month, it was up 5.8 percent from $196,000 in December 2011. January 2012's index was also an estimated $196,000, meaning the year-to-date change throughout 2012 was also 5.8 percent.

LPS Announces Addition to Board of Directors

Lender Processing Services, Inc. (LPS) announced the appointment of Dan Carmichael to its board of directors. Carmichael also serves as the chairman of the board at Platinum Underwriters Holdings and is on the board for EagleEye Analytics and Dovetail Insurance Corporation. In addition, he is an advisor to FirstMark Capital.

LPS: Home Prices Increase 0.1% in September

Home prices rose just slightly over the month of September, demonstrating a 0.1 percent increase from August, according to Lender Processing Services' Home Price Index, which analyzes home prices in more than 15,500 ZIP codes each month. The modest increase lines up with the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index, which came in under expectations. While the 0.1 percent increase is slight, LPS does report more significant change on a yearly and year-to-date basis.
